Heuring and H.F. Jordan, Addison Wesley Longman 1997. (2) Operating Systems Design and Implementation, Second Edition, by A.S. Tanenbaum and A.S. Woodhull, Prentice Hall 1997. * EXAMS: There will be 2 exams: EX1 (October 10) and EX2 (December 11 at 1 PM). There will be computer projects. Programming in C (or C++ or Java) is a significant component. Participation is required. * COURSE OUTLINE: We begin with Appendix A of book (1), followed by Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, and selected topics from the later chapters of book (1). During the second half we switch to book (2). We hope to cover chapters 1 and 2. We continue with book (2), chapter 3, during the followup course MSCS 207 in the Spring.
