OBJECTIVES:
Relate the mathematics of your university courses to the basic concepts of
HS mathematics like number, algebra, geometry, and function.
For example:
(1) See the basic concepts from a broader point of view.
(2) Be able to answer difficult HS questions with confidence.
(3) Have alternate ways to look at fundamentals.
(4) Be able to decide which topics to emphasize.
CLASS PLACE AND TIME: CU 118, MW 6-7:15

OFFICE HOURS: Shortly after class, or by appointment. Office CU 384
PREREQUISITES 4040: MSST with MATH 4120 and consent of MSCS Chair
PREREQUISITES 5040: Consent of MSCS Chair
BOOK: Usiskin, Peressini, Marchisotto, Stanley: Mathematics for High
School Teachers.

GRADES will be determined by performance on exams and on homework
problems.
There will be three exams: EX1, EX2, and EX3.
Each exam is worth 100 points.
There will be homework problems worth extra points.
Some homeworks will be small, occasionally one will be large.
All homework combined is estimated to be worth 100 points.
In case of inclement weather during finals week, the final EX3 will be
canceled and grades calculated on the basis of the coursework the student has
completed up to the cancellation.

You are expected to attend all classes for their full periods.

My policy is NO, but then again I tend to give everybody a chance to make up
work once
